Casino Regs revisited PGH area

Hello everyone-

Sorry to bring this up again... I didn't want to post to an old thread with this question.

The Pittsburgh casino is nearing completion. I notice the PGB regulation (not law per-se) that prohibits carrying on the casino floor without prior written consent of the gaming board.

Due to the dicey location of said casino, I'd like to visit, but fear for the safety of myself and those accompanying me.

Is it worth a shot to send the PGB letters requesting permission to carry in casinos?

Or, if we could have lockers on premises but off of the "floor" to secure firearms so that I am not "naked" while traveling to my vehicle? I would hope to have done well at the casino, thus having more than normal funds on or about my person.

I do not wish to make this a flame war. Please keep responses civilized.
I'm simply asking a question to benefit fellow firearm enthusiasts.

Its a policy violation........not a law. If you carry concealed, who will know?

i work in the casino in Monroe County. You must have the express written consent of the PGCB to carry a firearm in a casino. as far as getting one, i would say good luck with that. Local law enforcement cant even carry, on or off duty, unless they are there for a duty related incident. Only PSP are allowed to carry on the casino floor.

on a secondary note, i wouldnt even want to carry in a casino, do you have any idea of how uncomfortable it would become to have a pistyol on your hip, or in your pocket if youre going to sit down at a machine for hours on end like everyone does?

i can say, you can try to apply to carry one, but you will more then likely be rejected.

Concealed is concealed. If someone would see it, the ONLY thing they could do is ask you to leave.

Just to clarify, there is no law that I know of that proscribes carry in a casino directly. Pa. Code requires the operator of the casino to establish a no-firearms policy and to post a sign warning that a person in possession of a firearm is subject to prosecution under the trespass statute.

That said, you can fight for permission but I doubt if that windmill will fall.

In a perfect world, I would agree with the posters saying that all they can do is ask you to leave. In the world we live in, however, the much more likely scenario would be your firearm gets noticed, the PSP are called, you are tackled while sitting at your machine, you are trussed up like a Christmas turkey and carried out by six or seven troopers in riot gear, you are charged with multiple weapons violations, a few stick and are bound over for trial, all while you are rotting away in the county jail. The perception of firearms being illegal in a casino, even to law enforcement, is probably much worse than what is faced daily by firearm owners who encounter police while driving......

No one has ever been prosecuted for trespass based on a "policy".

As I said, the no-firearms policy is just that, a policy....not a law.

When the casino opened here in Luzerne County, all police departments were sent a memo about the carrying of weapons. If found to be carrying the person will be asked to leave and place the weapon in their vehicle.

Keep it covered and it shouldn't be a problem. If discovered, be prepared to leave.

get a smart carry... if they see your gun its because you pulled it out. there is absolutely NO WAY anyone can see your gun in a smart carry.

I'm willing to bet if you wear a big belt buckle you could even get passed a metal detector :P

off topic, but...

i have a pistol on my hip from the time i get up until the time i go to bed. i have days where i sit in front of a computer for 16 hours straight. i don't even notice the pistol is there.

you might want to consider a different holster or different carry spot or something if you find that you cannot comfortably sit for hours on end while carrying.

(i carry a glock 17 in a c-tac at about 3:00.)

a bit back on topic...

the PA casinos have guaranteed that i will not patronize them because of this rule. i don't like the gamble anyway, but on the rare occassion i would want to go to a casino, i will go to the ones in WV instead...as you can carry there.
