Westmoreland County Parks in violation of 6120, UPDATE PAGE 6
just found out that all Westmoreland County Parks have this rule in place:
http://www.co.westmoreland.pa.us/par...489&parksNav=|
Hunt, trap, cart, bring into, and/or discharge any type of gun, pistol, revolver, air gun, bow and arrow, slingshot, or any other weapon except in those specific areas designated for such purposes.
typed up a little letter to the Director of Parks and Recreation to address this issue:
to who it may concern,
I was reading over your rules and regulations page and something caught my attention that I would like to address.
copied directly from your rules/regs page:
Hunt, trap, cart, bring into, and/or discharge any type of gun, pistol, revolver, air gun, bow and arrow, slingshot, or any other weapon except in those specific areas designated for such purposes.
Since the Parks are County owned, The above rule is in violation of Title 18, Chapter 61, subchapter A (otherwise known as The Uniform Firearms Act) specifically subsection 6120 which states: "General rule: No county, municipality or township may in any manner regulate the lawful ownership, possession, transfer or transportation of firearms, ammunition or ammunition components when carried or transported for purposes not prohibited by the laws of this commonwealth.”
Please revise your rules to correct this error.
thanks you,

Re: Westmoreland County Parks in violation of 6120
As I read it, this is about actual using, firing of firearm in park. I dont really get that you cant carry. I open carry in Northmoreland park regularly, never even got a blink. I've even spoke with park police. Although if fired in self defense, would they try to charge an individual?
