    Default AR-15 22LR Conversion

Who makes a good kit? How much? What kind of accuracy can I expect if shooting subsonic ammo w/ a 60 gr. bullet? Would it lead the barrel excessively where I could not shoot the 5.56 ammo w/o scrubbing the hell out of the barrel? My 10/22 has a 1-in16" twist so, I figure that my AR w/ a 1-in-9" twist would be perfect.

They're pretty much all based on the same design. The Spike's Tactical and CMMG kits get good reviews.

I'd stick with jacketed/copper washed ammo to keep leading out of your AR's barrel. The Wal-Mart Federal bulk pack seems to work best in most of the kits.

Expect a break in period and use high velocity ammo during this period. Start by using less than full mags unitl the springs soften up.

Hope that helps. CMMG kit after about a 2-300 rd break-in works great!

I stick my Spikes 22lr conversion in for my son when he want's to shoot and I have no complaints on the unit. When he is done, I swap BCG's and shoot some 5.56 through it to 'clean' it out.
