Drivers license or PA non drivers ID.

WTF? I just saw this in the Monroe instructions...

    F. Question #38, if you are not a U.S. Citizen, you must provide your Alien Identification
card. You MUST be a resident of Pennsylvania for 90 days prior to application. This date will be
determined by your Pennsylvania Driver’s License. In addition to all other necessary paperwork,
Pennsylvania law now requires that you provide substantiating documentation that you have continuously
resided in Pennsylvania for those 90 days
    .
Somebody's gotta get him to cite that statute...

The whole point of this thread, as of now, is that we're discussing how the sheriff has put illegal requirements onto the application. So it really isn't right for the sheriff to say that the resident has to live in PA/monroe for 90 days and needs two full time working monroe residents to vouche for him, and they must have known him for a year. Cannot be relatives or room mates.

Absolutely not. The application requires some DL or government issued ID, presumably to verify the identity of the applicant.

If I have a DL/ID from the state I just moved from, and a signed lease or mortgage indicating PA residence, I should be able to apply the same day I arrive here in PA.

Box #6 on the application even asks for the "state" of the DL/ID provided.

Snakeman, you might consider contacting Gunlawyer001 and inquiring to the possibility of engaging his professional services. A simple phone call to the Sheriff's solicitor explaining the reality of the law and your willingness to appeal their de facto denial of your application (by not accepting it absent the additional requirements) may be all it takes to get things straightened out.

Some Sheriff's don't like being corrected, but they like it even less when it's done publicly and involves things like lots of 'gun toters' and media showing up to see it happen.

That is federal law regarding firearm ownership for resident aliens. I don't know if Pa. has it codified but now I am going to look....

I haven't found anything in Pa. law yet....
