    Default Civvie AK-101?

I want a semi-auto AK-74 type rifle chambered in 5.56. Does such an animal exist on the civilian market in the US? If so, what's it called, who makes it, where can I buy it, and how much will it set me back?

there are quite a few, with many different variations. I wanted one my self but all i can afford is one of the romy wasr models which isn't exactly a "74" style. i think a bunch of members here have one or two. there are some in the AK section over at arfcom. from what i looked at in shows the higher end aks are marked 5.56 and the lower types are marked .223

have you tried the armory usa, kvar and global trades sites?

if no luck there you may have to have someone build you one, a lot of guys do that and that maybe where they come from.

Polish Tantals are 5.45x39. My friend has one and It is a very fun toy to play with.

*note: I know guns are not toys buy I enjoy having safe fun with them.

Forgot to mention ... Norinco also makes 5.56 models. I forget the model number but I know that we have a few members who own one (mythaeus). At the sale prices, I would go with the SLRs

The OP is looking for a 5.56 and as far as I know Tantals are only chambered in 5.45. Doesn't mean that buying a Tantal isn't a good idea though
