    Default Adrenaline Rushed Encounter

So First I have to say that I was not carrying (you'll read why) and was a little hesitant about posting this. Feedback for the future would be appreciated.

Well I was out at a friend's house about two weeks ago and being that I had off the next day so I would be DRINKING and enjoying the night. Its around 1:30am when a few of us are just chilling on the porch when these kids come up to the house asking for a party. We turn them away telling them that there is no party. My friend is polite but one of the guys, obviously intoxicated, starts yelling at my friend about coming in and ends up touching his face. Not a slap but just the same I got into the situation and told the kids to get out of here.

The kid continued to scream and yell and started saying he was going to take us all on and started swinging fake punches at us never hitting us. He was a big guy probably 6'3" and 250lbs so a little intimidating. I didn't want to get into a fight so I kept telling this kid along with his friends to leave and we don't want any trouble while also trying to keep my friends away from possibly escalating the situation. This goes on for a few more minutes until the big guy reaches into his pocket and pulls out a knife( never unfolded it) but then puts it to my cheek and says hes going to "slash" me. By now I'm a little scared, I'm not embarrassed to say it, who wants to ever get stabbed or cut? My friends are getting anxious but we still tell the kid to get out of here. We never raised our voices or cursed at him, he eventually left.

We didn't call the cops, because none of us wanted to be bothered and we were a little inebriated. But what could I have done in this situation if I was carrying? I could never really distance myself from the guy which I know is a very bad thing when dealing with someone who has a knife. After all this everyone went inside and I told them to call the cops if he came back. He never did. I've been trying to carry more often but usually can't because I work full-time and go to school full-time. Both places forbid firearms on the premises.

    RECAP:
    1. NOT carrying because I was planning on drinking.
    2. Didn't call the cops because we were inebriated, tired and did not want to be bothered.
    3. Do not hang-out with cretins or the like
    4. These kids were random college assholes that wondered towards us itching to start something.
    5. Had four mid-terms and 3 papers this week so am a little out of it. I apologize for a lousy original post.

    Thanks.

First, the only coherent thing I took away from that post is that you, and your friends, let some monkey get close enough to assault you, repeatedly, when you apparently had no intention of resisting anything he might want to do to you. I can't say I understand this, or why you posted about it, but whatever.

Second, it sounds like there are drugs involved and/or prohibited people among your hangout mates. You might want to reconsider your life choices before you wind up not able to own a firearm.

Third, if you were armed, minus whatever "Shhh, I can't talk about why I can't call the cops or be armed" shit was going on, and this guy pulled a knife out, well, if it was me, he would very likely be under arrest or dead.

If you want answers, ask questions, and give details that help answer your question.

I don't know what this actually translates into, though I have my suspicions. I will, however, say this: If you're frequently going places where you are actually forbidden by law to carry a firearm and you're also frequently in situations that cause you to feel unwilling to call the police if things go sour, I suggest you take a good, hard look at the choices you make and the people you surround yourself with. This isn't to say that you'll ever be at the wrong place at the wrong time entirely accidentally, but if you frequently place yourself in the wrong place, the wrong time is just a matter of, well, time, as you found out.

The best way to handle this? Exercise better judgment about where, how, and with whom you spend your time. Avoiding known trouble situations is an easy way to avoid most trouble. Sometimes you don't have a choice, but given what you've told us in this first post, it sounds like you're inserting yourself into known trouble situations.

I don't see anywhere in the post where it explains why you weren't carrying.

I must have repped you recently, I can't now. But your interpretation is the same as mine. If whatever you're doing would get you arrested, then you probably shouldn't be doing it, unless you're undermining some corrupt socialist government or finding Obama's real birth certificate.

    Shhhhhh... :whispers: don't ask.

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

NOW THAT Cracks me up! nice one GL.

i would add to this but seems the previous posters pretty much covered it, I dont know how many kids were there asking to come into the party, but me personally if someone puts a knife to my face...Im gonna do everything in my power to realize he'd made a bad decision. (especially if he didnt even open the knife...) This might be a good time to look into other means of self-defense, hand to hand, etc.. Like Ive read other places, your pistol is only a tool, your MIND is your weapon...stay sharp and watch who you hang out with bud

    If you were armed:

"Put the weapon down or I will shoot"

    Repeat.

If he leaves, good. If he attacks you, shoot him. Good in theory, right.

At these distances, your gun would be useless unless you got to it first, not when he was arms distance from you. He got way too close. Before he even gets there, repeated warnings to back up and set some limits would be in order. What i the knife were open? I'm not letting him put a knife to my face without a fight. Kick him in the balls, smash him over the head with a potted plant or something. Just because you did not have a firearm does not mean you are unarmed. He intimidated you.

I also recommend NOT getting into a situation where you are to impaired to make god judgements, whatever level that is for you.

I also HIGHLY recommend carrying a knife and getting some training: http://www.moderncombativesystems.co...aining_iet.htm

Sounds like you're lucky nobody from either party made a swing, you would all have ended up in jail. I'm making that assumption since you can't tell us why you weren't carrying. Unless you were in new jersey or something, then we could understand, but why not tell us that?
