Range report Taurus 709slim
Took my new Taurus to the range yesterday. Fired 150 rounds of Federal FMJ , Blazer Brass and Remington hollow points. the gun is very accurate but I had 21 failures to extract. I was very disappointed with it. Took it home and cleaned it for the second time, went back to the range with 100 full metal jacket. Only had two failures to extract which still left me upset.Went home and cleaned it again, went back to the range with 50 Federal FMJ. 50 Blazer and 100 Remington JHP. Fired every one of them without any problems at all. I guess it needed to be broken in as the slide movement felt rough at first but now it is very smooth. Overall I really like this gun.

Re: Range report Taurus 709slim
I took my new 709 to the range yesterday to break it in. I fired 100 WWB 115-grainers with no problems at all. I also fired 20 DoubleTap 115 +p JHP's with no problems.
The pistol tends to shoot low, and the sight adjustments are not exactly precise, so I am not sure if hitting low is the pistol or the result of how I hold the pistol. Groups were quite nice, with 5 shots holding around softball-size at 15yds. The pistol really shined during one-handed rapid fire at 1-3yds, it pointed well and all rounds went where they would do the most good.
The trigger is very nice, once your get used to its unique pull and I really like the safety.
All-in-all I am fairly happy with this pistol.
I purchased it at Hawk's Warehouse outside of Millerstown, PA for $379.00
Is anyone making a Kydex holster for the 709?"When in doubt, empty the magazine!"

I had one, and got rid of it. shot nice, just wasn't what I was looking for.
I can tell you though, It is very nice to wear around in a Blackhawk size 5 IWB holster.
