I just can't bring myself to OC
Everyday I CC and I always wonder about OC’ing… Once in a while I have exposed myself to people unintentionally, with fair results… A few times in controlled situations I have OC’ed…. But I never actually OC’ed in the general public… Since I have moved to Harrisburg I have only seen one guy OC and that was at Wal-Mart… I don’t want to be confronted by ignorant folk or hassled by the ill-informed. I like CC because I can be me with out being a target. I have my reasons for CC… But I also want to try OC… I think If I had a partner or someone to OC with it would be a bit easier for me… How did you all OC for your first time?

Re: I just can't bring myself to OC
I was heading to a group shoot and... well, you can read about it here: (Whole thread is mainly my "OC log")
http://forum.pafoa.org/open-carry-14...html#post80352
Mainly, I OC while walking the dog. For various reasons, I don't OC in retail environments much, and I can certainly understand why anyone would feel uncomfortable doing so.
Even if you aren't with someone else who is carrying openly, I think it helps to be with "someone". For example, Joe Public is probably less likely to "freak" if he sees a man(w/a gun) and woman walking a dog, than if he sees a young guy in gangsta' clothes(w/a gun) walking alone. I don't have time to go into any further detail, but good luck in your quest, and remember, if you don't feel comfortable, and are not prepared to answer questions, don't do it.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

I don't know why you posted this in the lounge.
Like anything else in life, do what you are comfortable doing. For me personally, I actually started OC'ing because the thought of doing it in this area unnerved me almost spitless, but I am weird like that. I tend to do things that make me nervous or fearful because I hate that they make me feel that way. To this day I still feel like I am going to jail every time I OC, when that feeling goes away, I will probably not consciously do it anymore. If that made any sense...
I generally advise people to do like EM said, if you are not comfortable doing it or are not ready to deal with the possible side effects, don't do it.

Re: I just can't bring myself to OC
Now you know, I was JUST in Harrisburg LAST weekend! You going to make me drive there again and show you how it's done? Seriously, I'd be glad to get together with you sometime if you think it would be easier to do it with someone else.

Same as Fingers said. When I was sure it was legal and not just an urban myth, I picked up a retention holster and a full size semi. By all means, if your not comfortable with it, or you don't want to have to deal with additional attention then don't bother. It is inconvenient sometimes, but you know where people and businesses stand when you OC.
