    Default How's your garden?

Mine's mud. Can't hardly walk through it let alone work in it. Plants knocked over by the rain and the tomatoes plants are all dying. Sure been a wet summer.

The dang deer somehow beat the 5 and a half foot fence and ate all my corn.

I got cucumbers the size of zucchinis! and the pumpkins are almost as big as basketballs and turning orange already, I have more tomatoes than I know what to do with! The peppers are very deficient though, and the watermelons and cantaloupes aren't doing so hot either.

Has it been hot up there in Butler county too? Here in Allegheny County, its been a dry summer, hardly any rain at all in the month of July, my water bill was high due to all the watering I had to do to keep the veggies and flowers alive. Just now getting some 'maters, jalapenos doing great, zucchini starting to grow...

Making pickles tonight with cucumbers from the garden!
Cucumbers didn't do all to well for some reason.
LOTS of tomatos. Just started turning green.
Peas and green beans did well.
Broccolli and cauliflower are still growing good.
    Lettuce has been yummy
Zucchini (aka weed) out that wazoo
Pepper plants didn't grow real high but producing some nice peppers.

Things are growing good except for the tomatoes. The leaves are turning brown from the ground up. Lots of peas and beans. Peppers are doing good. None ready yet but lots of them. Darn sunflowers are 8' tall. Lots and lots of rain here lately, too much sometimes.

I've got a small 4x8 garden. Peas, jalapenos, lettuce, spinach and tomatoes all doing well. although the tomatoes still aren't ripe yet. Would have been nice to have with all the lettuce and stuff, but oh well.

Lots of cucs and Zuchini, but the vines are starting to yellow and die. Pumpkins are HUGE and plenty.
Tomato plants not doing too well. Lots of fruit, but again, foliage yellowing.
Don't know why, but my corn only got 3.5-4 feet tall this year.
    Lettuce doing well.

Everything in our garden is doing great except for the Tomatoes, early blight hit us again this year, way to much rain. Oh and the slugs aren't helping with the lettuce. I'm going to have more cucumbers then I know what to do with. Beans are 8' tall and trying to go higher. Going to plant my second set of peas today. Broccoli is bolting as well as what lettuce I have left (damn slugs). Beets/carrots should be ready for picking soon. Onions are fattening up nicely and my sunflowers are just starting to flower. Picked our first pepper the other day. Stuffed peppers should be a good choice for dinner next week.

Skeptic, look into electric fences. Ours is over 6' and the cost wasn't that bad. Actually it was cheaper to go solar electric then to put up a conventional fence. We've already zapped a few deer as well as other critters
