What a frikin morning this is..

So I head back to my roon this morning around 0230 to get online and skype with my girlfriend. Walk into my room (really its just a metal conex box converted to a room) and its errily quiet and the light doesn't work. Apparently the power just went off as I was walking into my room (I know this cause my room was still an ice box and my laptop's monitor was on). So I sat in the dark for a few minutes and surfed the net. Girlfriend was running late, so we didn't get to talk. Left my room and realized: ITS ONLY MY ROOM THAT HAS NO FRIKIN POWER!!!

And to top this all off, on the way back to work I hear the sound of rockets and small arms fire on the other side of our wall. Thats kinda rare for where I am, maybe three times now in my 5 months here.

Ahhh life in a war zone..wait its not a war...life in a conflict zone...wait life in a invasion zone..oh hell who cares what it is called. I call it a frikin shithole!

Hey, at least you were still able to surf a little, when my conex loses power the net drops too, and it always happens right in the middle of the best por....err movie scene.

Thankfully the main internet router still has power, so I just unplug my router and went straight from wall to laptop. Just wont be able to surrf the net when I get back to my room, as my laptop has no juice. Billetting opens up at 0800 and then probably another hour or so to figure out what I am telling them.

Can't even begin to understand what you are going through because I never made it out of the states BUT my dad did 2 tours in Nam (Air Force), my sister 3 tours in Iraq (Navy rescue chopper pilot) and I have heard the stories and damn they aren't good.

Keep your chin up brother and remember the ones back here thinking about you, both family and friends and no matter what don't let the bastards get you down. Someday soon you will be back stateside with the ones you care about and will be able to look back at these bad days and (hopefully) laugh.
