I hate glock sights. To answer your question, why don't you get some night sights installed? Assuming you're using your carry gun for the IDPA match, it would make the most sense. I had Tru-Glo TFO's installed on my XD9 Service and they were great at night but during the day they were lacking a little for me.

I'd probably recommend some mepro lights or whatever the other common brand night sights are.

To each their own, of course, but the first thing I replaced when I was shooting a Glock in competition was the dopey white-outlined rear sight. I find them distracting. The "normal" aftermarket setup for IDPA or USPSA would be a fiber-optic front sight and a serrated plain black rear sight. Some like more than one 'dot' in their sight picture but most do not. There are lots of options for the XD, but I can't comment on if it's a DIY or 'smith task, as I've never owned one.

I have the TruGlo TFO sights on my XDm and like them. But if you are going to try and change them yourself, the original fronts are brutal to get out. I ended up having to cut them out with a dremel tool. I knicked the slide a bit, but oh well...I don't have any intention of selling it. Just a heads up that the front sight might be really, really stubborn. YMMV

funny thing is after getting jcabins response. i googled meprolights. ended up finding an xd owners forum, from there i noticed alot of guys liked tru-glo's & followed a link to springer precision ordered a new spring, a solid guide rod and a set of tru-glo's.

i do appreciate all the help offered, i knew all i had to do was ask and I'd be pointed in the right direction. you guy's (& girls) rule.
    thanks again for the help.

p.s. I'll be contacting rich at A.S.S to see if he can install them for me. i'm most definitely not capable.
