Default Front Scope Mount Screw Won't Come Out

I'm having trouble removing one screw from my scope mounts on my Remmington 700. I removed the other 3 with no problem but this last one won't budge. I've tried some different things but nothing is seeming to work and I don't want to strip the screw and be totally 'SOL'. I'm trying to keep from having to pay a gunsmith to remove a damn screw. I'm sure there's some trick that someone can suggest. Thanks.

Go get one of those small crackhead beutane lighters from the store.
Heat for a few seconds where it screw goes into the barrel, not the screw itself. Should back right out.

So I heat the barrel itself?

Yup, not the whole barrel, just where the screw goes in...that'll make the the metal expand enough to back it out.

Are there any precautions I should be aware of?

Too much heat will damage the finish, hard to do with the beutane lighter.

Forget the heat. That is one of your last options. Take a small screwdriver, place it in the slot, and tap lightly with a small hammer. Should loosen right up.

Yeah, I went right to extreme measures but...
