Inexpensive outdoor cam
I'm looking for sugestions for an inexpensive outdoor survelience camera. A single camera system should be fine for my application. I dont know much about them and easy install is important. I dont have off street parking and would like to keep an eye on them overnight.

Re: Inexpensive outdoor cam
it all depends on how far and wide you want to see. you need a camera, or cameras, monitor, vcr or dvr to record the action. or get a video capture card for a pc and record it to your hard drive. simple systems can be had for a couple hundred bucks while others can easily hit 10 grand

Cheap is easy to be had. How far is the stuff you want to see from the house/apartment? You can get a complete shitty system on ebay for around $150 or less. Go with color IR LED, and you will want to take whatever they say the IR distance is and cut it in half for the actual effective range.

You can try x10.
Cheezy web site and not high end stuff, but they do the job. I have a set of 4. Easy to use and install. Good luck.

I haven't played with them but there are many different cams. Some you can remotely control, some are wireless for a network.
Some come with several cheap cameras. It is you. You have all the weapons that you need. Now fight. --Sucker Punch

If you go the computing route, look into ZoneMinder. It's free and open source surveillance software.
