Default thinking of doing a build (AR) should I go 16" or 20"?

I myself am undecided as I like both, so lets see what you guys suggest.

The 16" is really not going to be noticably less accurate than the 20" but will be lighter, more manuverable and an all around handier package. I'd say wether to go with a carbine or midlength gas system on a 16" would be the bigger question. However let us know what you are looking to get out of it and what you intend to use it for and we may be able to give better answers.

That's a no-brainer.... you build one of each.

I guess if i had to have just one AR it would be a 16"

Size, weight and accuracy, the 16" would be my choice.
you wont notice any difference in accuracy or in any loss of FPS, even out of a 16" barrel the 223 is a speddy little round so go with the handier rifle.

Depends on what your going to do with it. Longer sight radius on the 20" is a big plus, if you're going to shoot it with precision (with irons) at 100 yards and up. Or you can always go with the mid length on the 16" to get the longer sight radius.

Do an M4 stock with an A2 Bushmaster Dissipator upper. You get a full length (based on 20" barrel) sight radius, full length hand guards, with a 16" barrel.

You'll end up with a gun that looks like this (it's not mine).

J&T distributing says 20" barrels are on longer back-order.

well i had an M4gery and loved it, i just ran the wrong ammo through it. the laquer on wolf causes some ftf / fte issues but can't blame the gun. i really like the look of the midlength uppers, not sure about the dissy pictured above. i like the 20" due to it the standard military rifle but thats realy the only reason why i like the 20".

as for what it will be used for, Zombies of course!!!!! and a little target shooting lol. i need to get an AR so i can have one of those ZRT signature pics of me shooting the zombies, i love those!!!

i think my mind is made up, 16" midlength upper is really juicing my grapes but i'd like to see some more responses to see if anything else pops up

Carbine first. Then a rifle upper later.

^..just what I'd do if I were considering such a project.

    That would be my suggestion.
