Default everything came in, my 1903a3 is almost in business

As many of you know my last 1903A3 blew up and being that it is my favorite milsurp I just had to replace it ASAP. So, here is the new Remington and a run down of what was needed.

    1. Remington (drill) action $216.00 from SOG
    2. Remington (new) G.I. barrel $107.00 from ernst armory
    3. 1903A3 scant stock and handguard (made by US Billiard Company) $167.00 from numrich

total cost up to date $490 but still has to put together(ream chamber / headspace i'll be sending it to PA Patriot as soon as i get the funds together)

and now on with the pictures.................

    not bad huh? 8)

the a3's are nice, but i prefer the sights of the straight 03's.

hope you have better luck with this one.

Gorgeous. Wish I had a 1903, but whenever I contemplate getting one, I think "I could get a Garand for this money.."

as far as i know just from reading only one book, the unertl scopes were only used on the m1903 springfields and only issued to marine corp snipers. the m1903A4 was issued only with the weaver 330 and the lyman alaskan model scopes.

Lol. I wasn't aware that only the Marine rifles had the Unertl. I've always thought the super long target scopes they made just looked right on a wood and steel bolt gun.

Carlos Hathcock used one on his Winchester Model 70 in 30-06.

His second tour he had a bunch of different rifles to pick from. 1903s, Garands, Winchester 70s, a few Remington 700s and M21s.

He said it was like a golfer picking the perfect club for the shot.
