    Default LTCF question

    Hey everyone,
Got a quick question I was hoping to get some feedback on. My LTCF was issued in Montgomery County, where I currently live, but with my move to Philly just around the corner, I was wondering the protocol for having my LTCF switched to the city. Do I have to go through the application process all over again, or is it a mere address switch like they do with your drivers license? I was hoping to avoid going through the process again in Philly, (no doubt more intrusive than it is in Montco), if I didn't need to. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx!

When I moved from Washington County to Allegheny County, I called the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office with that very question. I was told that it is a state license, so it doesn't matter which county you live in. And I was told not to worry about the address on the LTCF, but to keep my driver's license with me. I asked if I could just renew it early to get the correct address on it, and she said No.

Your license is good anywhere in the state of PA regardless of where it was originally issued. No need to reapply in Philly until your current LTCF expires. There is no requirement to notify the MontCo sheriff of your address change, but it's probably a good idea so that you're renewal notice or any other correspondence regarding your LTCF will go to the correct address.

Your LTCF is valid throughout the commonwealth until expired or revoked.
At which time you will re-apply in your new digs.

While not required by statute, it may be a good idea to update your issuing sheriff's office of your move per Gunlawyers post:

Thanks! This forum really is a wealth of knowledge; so glad I joined.
I asked the question because I remember reading the back of my LTCF, and it said something about notifying your local sheriff's office if you move, change address, etc. I wasn't sure if it would look bad if the address on your LTCF doesn't match your drivers license, (since I plan to change that at some point after the move). But I'm sure you're right; it is a statewide license, so I probably don't have anything to worry about. I guess I'll worry about packing and getting a U-haul, and then put my energy into other things. Thanks!

    fingers,
I'm not exactly sure. Since my wallet is up in the bedroom, and the lady is sleeping, (don't want to disturb her), I'll have to get back to you on that one. Why do you ask? Does yours? What county are you in? I'll take a look at my LTCF in the A.M.
