Local LEO'S pound of flesh
Got a letter from my township today. They wanted $10.00 for the LTCF check.
What can they tell the sherrif that won't turn up from PSP? I will tell you, NOTHING! They just want $10.00 for nothing IMO. Public library will be wanting money next and then the school board won't be far behind. This will most certainly help keep guns and permits out of the hands of criminals.
Just had to get that off my chest. THANKS

Re: Local LEO'S pound of flesh
I'd like to know what the local PD is doing involved in the LTCF process at all. I know I've heard it goes on in MONTCO but this is the first I've heard it in DELCO.

Re: Local LEO'S pound of flesh
Our sheriff checks with the home municipal LEOs of each applicant to do their own background check.
If the municipality is asking for money, I'd ask them to show you the law that says they can get ask for it. They'll be looking for a while...

Re: Local LEO'S pound of flesh
I applied a couple weeks ago. I actually live in Ridley Township. Letter came from them today. They wanted 10.00$ because Delco sherriff must have sent them something to check me out. For what, I have no idea. I went to the station {police} and they said it was for some kind of "background check"
Why don't they just have us apply in our township or Borough where we live?
What can ridley police contribute, that the county needs?

I'm going to be heading down to the courthouse soon to apply for my LTCF, any chance they will try to charge me the $10 there?

Re: Local LEO'S pound of flesh
I am with SoberByker on this one .. I have never heard of DELCO SO doing the local PD checks and certainly have not heard of the local PD asking for a fee. My answer would go pound sand.
If this is really as reporting we just have a new issue with the DELCO SO regarding their already messed up rules & regs regarding the LTCF. I would be very interested to hear from any other DELCO residence that complete the application process in Media over the coming weeks and months.Last edited by shermdo; August 6th, 2009 at 12:11 PM.

Re: Local LEO'S pound of flesh
I would like to know what your local PD would turn up on you that the sheriff already can't find out. they have access to all your records wether it be from the state police or your local PD it's all under your name and such personal info. The sheriff can find out everything they need to for your LTCF that's why the take so long so they can look up all your records to check on you.
This is just another way for townships to get extra $.
