Benefit of working night shift.

Just wonder who else is working the night shift tonight, and getting the benifit of taking advantage of the daylight saving times?
Im working till 7, so only working 7 hours and getting a bonus hour free.

I am at work myself, but I do not think that they are ging to pay me for 8, just 7. New job, so I am not sure. Just hope that the guy relieving me set his clock.

Working graveyards myself. But pulling a double so I don't get off till 3pm. And I also get payed 8 for working 7.

I also made out Monday with the snow. City closed down so I got paid for 8 hrs even though it was my day off.

Changed jobs about 5 years ago. At the interview they asked what I thought was the hardest part.I told them rotating shift without batting an eye. Still think it's the worst part. But working day shift only one week a month does let you take care of stuff when everyone else is working.

ive worked overnights for a few years now. i like it. i get off at 8, and can run around to stores and post office and anything i want all morning, with no crowds anywhere. and lunch menus are places are cheaper then dinner prices. so my one free meal at work sets me up, for a cheap hearty meal come noon. then its off to bed between 2 and 4pm.

I have been doing the nite shift thing for 18 years. I like it because of no bosses around but hate it when its nice out. I try to sleep a few hours in the afternoon and then take a nap before i go in at 11. You never get used to it, just my opinion.

I also worked 2nds for 18-19yrs. No bosses, get up late every day, empty stores and roads......


Now they laid off so bad I got put on dayd and I have to get up at 4:45 to be in at 6:00.

I did 2nd shift for 2 years at Banner Metals in Stroudsburg and then another 2 years on 3rd shift (they could only afford one CAD system so they put the draftsman on shifts) ... 2nd shift I HATED (especially since my son was little) but third shift I actually liked ... it was just switching sleep with work.

Besides that, being the ONLY person in the building on third shift I was able to sneak in 2 hours of sleep every night and still get all my work done... not a bad deal.

I think i'd like to work a single shift. I currently work a rotating shift. Work 3 or 4 days of 7-3, than a day or two off, 3-11 for 3-4 days, a day or two off than the 11-7 shift. Every third week i have to work all three shifts in 7 days. So i never fall into a routine.
