Separate Member Intro Forum
Just a thought here... it seems that new members are sometimes getting lost in the shuffle with the single introduction thread in the Announcements forum.
So how about a separate forum where new members can start a new thread to introduce themselves, that way the folks here can respond to each one of them individually.

Re: Separate Member Intro Forum
I agree having a forum for us new folks would be good. It can be confusing when you join a site and then have no where to go from there. Welcoming new members can help a website for the better I think. Gives them a place of their own until they can look around and get comfortable with the place. Just adding my 2 cents.

Re: Separate Member Intro Forum
That may have worked when we had 1,000 members and were getting three or four a week, but we now have almost 16,000 and are getting about ten a day. There are members who cruise the new member thread and respond often, I do so every once in a while. But other than introducing yourself in the "say hi" thread, post in an active thread and you will be welcomed officially, if it is that important to be recognized..... But contribute, don't just pop in to an active thread and say, "Hi! I'm Joe New Guy."......

Re: Separate Member Intro Forum
Yeah I think a whole forum dedicated to it might be a bit overboard. Really, now that we're getting 1000+ new members a month, but only a few posts in the thread we have, it shows a general lack of interest in introducing onesself anyway.
