Default PMAG problems for S&W M&P Carbine

I have read that the S&W M&P has had some problems with MAGPUL PMAGS not mating to the magazine weld. Have any of you experienced this problem?

not in over a year, some of the first M&P's didn't have their magwells opened up enough. now they do.

    nothing to worry about anymore.

edit: nevermind, just saw one today that wouldn't take a PMAG, dunno why...it was brand new....

I just got a 20 round Pmag that had been backordered.

I tried it out, and it does not drop free.
    (Anvil Arms lower)
An older 30 round Pmag works just fine.

Hmmm... I have a box of about 8 brand new 30 rounders I haven't used yet... going to go check them now.

I had this problem in my M&P 15T. After blaming PMAG by S&W CS, I cited researches online that it was their carbines, I sent it back to S&W and they fixed the problem. I just got a few Thermold mags and those don't fit either. I am not happy with S&W so-called mil-spec claim. I'm debating whether or not to send the rifle in again for sell the mags back.

You should send me that 20 rounder for testing and evaluation. If I find it doesn't work properly, I'll dispose of it for you!

OK, I just checked all my new 30 round Pmags, and they drop free,(Anvil Arms lower)so my issue is with the single 20 rd mag I currently own.

    To the OP:
Sorry, I know my issue isn't related to an M&P, but wanted to note it as I had a similar issue. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to be gun related.

There are some tabs on the spine you can lightly file down or sand down and then they should drop free.

+1 a little light sanding is all that's needed. Plus it's far less hassle than sending back a lower. I need to check this out on my M&P lower, I would hate to have to send it back for something so trivial.

    .

I have experienced this same issue. 20 rnders do not drop free from multiple brand of lowers.

And this is the fix. Mine had flashing and overly generous corners on the rear rib. Hopefully MagPul will address this QC isue but it was simple enough to remedy.

The new molds on the pmags are fixed according to some threads on arfcom from Justin/Drake from Magpul.

If you still have a stubborn lower, you can order the Magpul E-mags once they're released.
