i'm originally from elk county (st. marys). i live in pittsburgh now.

my parents still live in st. marys, though, so i still get back up there from time to time...will be up there again for christmas.

Born in Ridgway, lived there for 22 years. My parent's and sister are still in Elk Co. but I had to get out, got tired of powdered metal real quick and logging ain't for me.

You have to consider how far removed from civilization you are when you're in that part of the woods. There are still areas that you can't get a cell phone signal unless you "go to the top of that hill and stand between that rock and the hemlock tree", or "go down the dirt road about a half mile and go 100 yards up the gas line".
I moved away 31 years ago, but I miss it. I still go back for a visit once in a while.

I wish I was from Elk ! Been going to a cabin on SGL off Dents Run road sinve 1970. Built my own cabin in Benezette last year. In-door plumbing !!!! Living in Pgh. now. I will be from Elk when I retire !

I'm not from Elk, but I go there often! My buddy has a camp about 9 miles south of Kane off of 66...nice country up there! Hard to find ammo though! We must have hit 6 places before we found a store with bricks of .22 on stock!
