Default This idiot doesn't know...no guns in the Post Office!

If they catch this guy looks like he'll be facing some pretty stiff federal charges...including having a gun on P.O. property!

    Washington County post office robbed
    Thursday, October 09, 2008
    By Jim McKinnon, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

A post office was robbed this morning in a small Washington County village outside Burgettstown, postal inspectors said.

The robbery was reported around 10 a.m. at the Langeloth Post Office just off Route 18, said Andrew Richards, a postal inspector.

A white man, armed with a gun and wearing dark clothing and a ski mask, vaulted the counter and accosted the lone postmaster on duty.

The robber took money from the till and forced the female postmaster into a restroom which he then wedged shut before he fled.

The woman was stuck in the restroom for about a minute. She was calling for help when a customer entered the post office and opened the door, Mr. Richards said.

The postal inspection service and Burgettstown police are investigating.

    Hint: NEVER!

    Maybe he was just passing!

Or perhaps their rational is, when a white man does it, it really is news!

I thought I should add subsection d) as referenced in the sign but for some reason (lack of space?) left off of the sign...

    (d) Subsection (a) shall not apply to -

    (1) the lawful performance of official duties by an officer, agent, or employee of the United States, a State, or a political subdivision thereof, who is authorized by law to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of any violation of law;

    (2) the possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon by a Federal official or a member of the Armed Forces if such possession is authorized by law; or

    (3) the lawful carrying of firearms or other dangerous weapons in a Federal facility incident to hunting or other lawful purposes.
But, unless someone can cite the case law, I would not want to be the test case. Kinda like the whole school thing, I guess.

And, in this case, robbery is not a lawful purpose.

ETA = The 239 CFR 232.1 (l) would be another issue, however as it is Code of Federal Regulations. IANAL.

the CFR makes carrying in a post office unlawful. therefore, the exception in the USC does not apply.

my non-lawyer...but i pretty much guarantee that's how it would play out in court...take on it.

the school thing in PA is different because there is no equivalent to the CFR that makes carrying in a school unlawful (and even that one, which, imhnon-lawyero, is crystal clear isn't guaranteed to work out favorably in court).

    fixed that for ya.

whenever i watch or read the news, and a witness is asked to describe to the police "whodunit," the first thing out of their mouths is gender. the second is color.

"witnesses described the the man as african american..."

"he is described as being a male, possibly hispanic.."

"a white man, armed with a gun and wearing..."

it's called identifying someone. no liberal media conspiracy there, unless, of course, you think the jews control the media...

no need for a tinfoil hat, unless hes gonna wear it under this:

Frankly BNP, I can't think of a single thing that you've actually contributed to this forum that makes me think you are worth keeping around.

    your constant racial attacks? nope

your constant rude language and attacks on other members? nope

your constant efforts to make the staff spend time cleaning up your steaming piles of posts? nope

    good bye, and good riddance.

    Disagree.

The CFR is regulatory, not criminal. IOW, the CFR ony prohibits EMPLOYEES from carrying. IANAL-either and JMHO.

Otherwise I would be in violation of the law everytime I shipped a handgun through the PO (I'm an FFL for those that don't know).
