    Default Hickok45: Is hand-held full-auto practical?

Probably not except in certain close quarters tactical situations, but still fun as hell...

    His opinion, man.

@11000gs you can have it. Nothing is "practical" its if you want it bad enough.

Since we specialize in machine gun rentals, I get asked this question almost weekly, "Is full-auto practical?". Full-Auto is a tool that has it's place in tactical defense, but dumping a 30-round magazine is all about having fun (or laying down suppressive fire).

Is it effective, all depends on how you use it and what you want to achieve. Like he says in the video, short burst is the way to go for accuracy, but nothing gets the enemies head down like a continues stream of full-auto fire. Our M16 in 3-round burst is very accurate at putting 3 rounds in center mass of a silhouette target at 50 yards, but spraying 30 rounds of 5.56 down range at 50 bowling pins has it's place in "Merica".

Anyone who has ever witnessed a live night-time demonstration of interlocking fields of fire (better than Viagra, to paraphrase a former coworker) will tell you that full-auto fire has its place. That place is often an emplacement providing cover for the precision shooters, but there are exceptions.

Before I was a SGT I was a machine gunner, and I could happily rock-n-roll through thousands of rounds if the scenario called for it, giving everyone else time to call their shots. When I stopped humping the pig, however, I found that 3-round shooting only had a place for me a) at the practice range, or b) when there was no machine gun around and triple-tap-and-go was more tactically desirable than more deliberate fire.

Of course I did usually manage to practice that 3-round shooting to the point that my hand guards were smoking, because 'Murrica!

I was just reading your site, and have a quick question. In the rules, it states:
"Only our firearms and ammunition are allowed. (LEO’s are exempt from this rule and are encouraged to open carry at range)"

    Can you expound upon this?

I wish he used adult sized targets instead of the soda bottles.

Fixed that... suppose to read "Only our ammunition in our machine guns." That was from the old website from when we were only a machine gun rental place.
