WW2 Arisaka Type 44 needs a gunsmith
Hey, I inherited a WW2 Japanesse Arisaka Type 44 bolt action rifle. I believe it is in good working order, but would like an expert to go over it and confirm that. In addition, the wood along the barrel is cracked and needs repair.
I live in Montgomery County PA. Anyone know of a good gunsmith that would take on this kind of project?
Manly thanks!

Re: WW2 Arisaka Type 44 needs a gunsmith
If I still lived down there I would. Arisakas are kind of a specialty. Everybody knows about them, but few people work on them. You might try a Gunshow and see who shows up. I really liked Japanese rifles and a few years ago auctioned off my collection. There is a lot more to them than most people know. You have one of the heavier models, but in my opinion it is the only military rifle that can safely seriously lightened up for a mountain deer rifle. Once you use that one, you may want other models to play with.

Re: WW2 Arisaka Type 44 needs a gunsmith
I visited Sean on Saturday morning, and he is a great guy and an excellent smith.
He spent about 30 minutes examining my gun, and he told me that it is safe to shoot, and he also told me what I needed to repair on the stock and how to do it.
When I asked him how much I owed him for his time, ge said it was free!!
I will definitely reccomend Sean and use him for any future smithing needs.
