    Question Ruger mag problem

I have a P 95 with the 2- 15 round mags that came with it. The problem is that they don't drop free, I have to pull them out. Is this normal? I'm thinking they should just drop out when I push the release. Any ideas how to remedy the situation?

I have had mags that did not freely drop and had to be coaxed out. If they are not actually hanging up on something try using your silicone rag on them. Do not "oil" the outside of the mag, but wipe them down with silicone and see if they improve. Just don't use too much or you'll have silicone stains everywhere!

Also you did not mention if the mags are empty or loaded. If you tried empty mags load them and CAREFULLY see if they drop out on their own.

I'll have to get some silicone. Loaded mags drop easier but still won't fall out on thier own. We were doing "3 shots and change the mag" shooting today so I really need to get them to drop free empty. Hopefully the silicone trick will work. Thanks.

Jailkeeper- You hit the nail on the head! A little Armor-All and voila! Push the button and both mags just about jump out of the well. Thank you, kind sir!

BTW, I saw your post on your house- How cool is that!

Armor-All is a short-term fix, all it does is add a little lube to the tube... Look at your mags, the round count numbers should be rather sharply cut and only slightly filled with the black paint... I got some aftermarket mags that look like they were painted either twice, or just really heavy. A little time with sandpaper on the corners and the front and back sides of the mags, and you have a permanent solution. Also, using a file on the inside of the grip sides and front, will help alot, but don't take too much...

I'll show you my P95 sometime... lol
