Revolver Cleaning Kit
Hello Guys, I have just joined the site, so hopefully I have managed to get this topic into the right Forum?
I think I have recently picked up a revolver cleaning kit which is confusing me somewhat as I originally thought it might be an american issue, but I cannot seem to trace the weapon that it might belong to. It does have an ink stamp on the inside of the leather pouch, which again I though might be for Rock Arsenal, but its not to be! Any help, or points in the right direction (apart from Google!) would be great!! Thanks in advance

Re: Revolver Cleaning Kit
I am sorry I can't tell you what gun that is for, but it looks like a semi-auto kit to me. The object on the right in your first picture looks like a magazine loader, maybe a 1911 style single stack mag.

I don't think it's a US military piece. The "attatchement" above the belt loop doesn't look like anything US I've seen. I am by far not a expert though...

I'm going to guess it lost an "h" from the bottle, and was originally labeled "huile", which is French for "oil".
(I'd tend to agree that the one gizmo looks like it might be a mag loader.)

Here you go - it is indeed French, and it's for a MAT 49 SMG:

And some Wikipedia info on the MAT 49 - it was a post-WWII SMG:

Re: Revolver Cleaning Kit
Hi everyone, especially Jay5oh and toml for your help in assisting with the identification of the unusual pouch and cleaning kit - I think some serious research went into it all and your help is very much appreciated!!
No story I am afraid, I bought it as part of a job lot of mainly swords and bayonets from a militaria auctioneeers over here in England and thats about it :-( and it was just something that as yet I was unable to identify. It was a bit silly really as I collect British medals, but when something smells like they could be associated with them, then it is always a nice change to expand one's horizons - Jack of all trades and Master of none!!
You have all been very welcoming to say the least to a citizen of the 53rd State of the USA !!
