    Question Numbering Magazines

I have seen a number of photos now that show magazines with numbers painted on the bottom or near the bottom on the side. I can certainly understand wanting to do this if I had very similar guns in different calibers (e.g. 1911 in .45 and 9mm) as mixing them up could be problematic

What other reasons do any of you have for numbering your mags?

    Thanks.

If find one with a malfunction at the range it's easier to identify it when you get home after they're all mixed together in your range bag again.

I like to freak out my lib family members when they're over... I leave 4 out labeled 1,2,3, and 1049.

You should also have your name, address and email engraved on each one in case they get lost.

Worth mentioning that this should be done on bullets too.

I have OCD so my mags need to stay in the order that I purchased them.

No, really I used to number them when I shot USPSA for the reason above, malfunctions.
Dropping the mag on the ground and moving to the next one could get problematic when a fellow shooter was "helping" you gather your mags off the ground after a stage.
I numbered the bodies, but I also colored the baseplates so I could remember that red was shit at the end of a stage.

OMG, I thought I was the only one

Although, I have CDO. It's just like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order - the way they're SUPPOSED to be...

Hey I put that on all of my house keys! I'm always misplacing those buggers!

I'll add that numbering helps if you have a decent amount of them, you can make sure you take them all out at some point to check for malfunctions somewhat routinely. 1,2,3 then 4,5,6... You'd be less likely to wind up with a problematic one buried in the back of the safe.
