Gun Shops Ordering Guns?
Just a quick question, I am going in town this week to a few gun shops to see if I can find a Taurus model 66. If I can't find the gun I want in the future or this week will/or do gun shops order you a gun if they do not have one?
I know that you can buy guns online which requires you to pay more money for transfer fees but some people have told me something about getting gun shops to order guns? Do they charge you or what? I have no clue what I am saying because they people I talk to online are not very clear on what they are talking about.
Basically I want to know will gun shops order you a gun that they do not have in their shop? For example if I wanted a certain rifle, shotgun, ect would they order me a gun or do most gun shops not do that.

Re: Gun Shops Ordering Guns?
Most shops will order anything you want and should be able to give you their price for it ahead of time. Don't expect to get anything quickly though with the current market.
Let us hope for the best, but let us also prepare for the worst.

Re: Gun Shops Ordering Guns?
Two things
#1 do they usually charge or will they order it for you free?
#2 Would it be best to email them if they do not have your gun or ask them in person.

Re: Gun Shops Ordering Guns?
i know some people have been put on waiting lists for certain guns, with wait times of more then 2 months. Ive been wanting to get an AR, but there is no way im paying the high markups everyone is putting on them.

I'm looking for a taurus 66 plus it has life time warranty so I'm not worried about it. I was just wondering if I couldn't find one if they would order one.

Re: Gun Shops Ordering Guns?
2 of my last 3 were ordered. My LGS is actually a FFL that runs his business from his home. I got (what I considered) a good price for both. If you know what you want, I think it's a good way to go. Unfortunately, I'm on the other coast of PA, and so is my guy.

i dont see why a shop wouldnt order it. They just may not be able to give you a timeline on delivery.

Re: Gun Shops Ordering Guns?
There is no reason for them to charge to order you something. Most gun shops have accounts with one or more distributors and that is where they get pretty much all their supplies. It just goes into their regular stack of orders. If they try to charge you extra to do something like that, find another shop.
I would ask them in person. Most places are going to ask you to put some money down on it unless you buy from them frequently.
Again I have to stress, don't expect to get anything in a timely fashion. You will likely be waiting several months.Let us hope for the best, but let us also prepare for the worst.

Re: Gun Shops Ordering Guns?
Here's how it going to go down:
You ask your LGS if they can order something.
They check with their distributors to see if they have it in stock.
If they have it in stock, then you're good to go. wait for ship.
If the distributors have nothing in stock, then the LGS puts it on their 'wish list' with the distributor, and they get it when the distributor can get it to them.
In other words, if the LGS's distributor doesn't have it in stock, then you will have to wait an 'undetermined' amount of time.
They shouldn't charge you more than say $40 as a deposit. Always ask if you can get your deposit back if you find another one somewhere else and they can cancel the order or sell the gun at retail.
good luck bro.
Or you could find it yourself online and get it shipped to FFL, assuming you could find it online.
