    Default transportation question

Ok So I will officially be eligible to purchase a firearm next week once I get my PA license, and I have 3 questions. I'm in Philly if it matters.

1.) Once I purchase the firearm can I carry it (in a case or something) on a street when getting it home? ANSWER: YES!

2.) Can I carry it on SEPTA to get it to my house? ANSWER: YES!

3.) Since I'm going to store it in NJ can I shoot at NJ ranges legally? ANSWER: YES!

EDIT: When I say firearm I mean rifle/shotgun, not the legal definition of firearm.

    #1 Yes.

#2, not sure, but I would venture yes. However read over SEPTA's rules. I believe they are a privately run company, similar to PATransit here in Allegheny County.

#3, again, not an expert, but most likely Yes. (Someone with knowledge of NJ law will have to speak up there...)

PA Driver's license sorry 'bout that.

I just called SEPTA and it is allowed so long as the gun and ammo are separate and they prefer the case not be obvious but that's not a requirement.

I just need an answer to #3 now.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I called the local (to my family) NJPD and asked #3. After being transfered 4 times I was told to call the State Police. After I called them I was told that it was perfectly legal so long as I followed all transportation laws.

So it's legal to shoot your firearms that you legally own in PA in NJ .

To revive an old thread of mine.

Shooting a gun at a NJ range is legal so long as it is private.

If public it is legal if you have a hunting license or are accompanied by someone with a hunting license.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!” ~Samuel Adams
