Forced Addy Change - What about LTCF
Well these idiots up here are doing their 911 re-addressing of our town over the next two months and we got notified that our address WILL be changed (for the third time I might add) again.
So I am assuming we have to get our LTCF changed, but since they don't expire until 2013 will we have to go through the whole damn thing again or just have them change the addy. Can't find anything on the sheriff's section of Monroe counties website.
God this sucks ... 5 million places we are going to have to change this.

Tiz why I like P.O. Box's. Plus, it secures mail from unwanted hands. I do realize you live in what I would classify as "Paradise" I'm just throwing that idea out there.

I'm in Montgomery County. When I recently moved (within the county), I just stopped by the Sheriff's office and they updated the address in their system. Still have the same card with the old address. Process took maybe 30 seconds. I brought my driver's license, driver's license update card and LTCF.

I've changed my address on my own LTCF twice. They just charge you a fee at the sheriff's office. It's like $3.00 or $5.00 can't remember. It's not required though, you can wait until it expires.
ETA: Our addy here got changed as well.

There is nothing required to be done, at all. If you want to change your address, just go there and tell them, like Chemical said, but it is not required to change your address...

Re: Forced Addy Change - What about LTCF
I've been waiting for this, I can feel your pain but the county wide 911 address system will help some people. they are about three years behind schedule with this.
Two summers ago I fell at the cabin breaking my fib/tib and after I got my neighbor's attention the paramedic and local firechief arrived by car. After asking me 20 questions and getting a pillow under my leg the paramedic took out his cell and made a call to see where the ambulance was. The dispatcher gave him the driver's number and he called the driver and found out he was riding around a nearby development.
Now the person who called 911 is a full time resident w/ an address. If my cabin had it's new address [currently has no number since it is a state forest lease] they would have been able to find me...If I had cell service; I could still be laying there waiting for help as I'm sure the services have no way to tell one cabin from another.

You think you have problems? If they change your address, how am I supposed to find your house again? Seriously though, I just got back in town from a business trip to MN, and I should have some numbers for you shortly, not to mention some feedback on that hot sauce.
