Re: NRA Deal
Ummmm, NRA hasn't come out with ANY endorsements yet. I'll take their word for it over the word of others.

Re: NRA Deal
I have seriously mixed feelings on the NRA...
I would suggest they only provide their ratings/endorsements to the TOP 10% of politicians who BROADLY SUPPORT the Second Amendment.
The way politics are played these days, with no underlying principles whatsoever, means that at any one time 40% of the Anti-2A politicians can claim/lobby/vote for pro-2A legislation with the full knowledge that their voice and vote (as disingenuous as it is) will not preclude their actual Anti-2A goals from being achieved. By simply changing the complement of the 40% doing so, the Anti-2A politicians can point their supportors to their 'overwhelming' efforts to make 'reasonable gun control' laws.
It is a game that the NRA too often facilitates and participates in...

Re: NRA Deal
Insulting??? Sorry you felt that way. (not my intention) Simple question. People are either in the game, or they sit back and watch.
I was not attempting to recruit you, although I could give you tons of reasons why you should. I look at where we are now, and then I think where we would be if the other 10+ million ACTIVE gun owners were members.
If you don't support any gun rights org? I mean we are talking 25 bucks a year.NRA Training Counselor, Chief Range Safety Officer, NRA Benefactor Member

Re: NRA Deal
I needed a new duffel bag and decided to join, even though I had some reservations and misgivings. Turns out they send you some survey that you have to fill out in order to receive the bag. That's bait and switch in my book, and not honest.
That's what "float" means; someone with the NRA is putting it out there to see what the reaction would be. I'm turned off enough by their actions with the DISCLOSE act that I will not be renewing my membership (also the amount of phone spam is ridiculous). If there were no smoke, then the NRA would not have published the piece that you linked. Not hard to read between the lines.
Nor am I.Last edited by ThomasJ; August 3rd, 2010 at 04:20 PM.
