Soldiers reminding themselves of home......Best way I've seen yet
This is an Army soldier in Iraq with his tiny 'plot' of grass in front of his tent. It's heartwarming! Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq , stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt ( U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil -- to bring them good luck.If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted.

I can't explain the feeling I had when I saw that photo. Probably the same as all of you.
For the small amount of grass that I actually have, I always drag my feet when it comes to cutting and trimming it.
Now I have a whole new appreciation for it.
Thank you for that post, and thank you to the men and women of the US armed forces.Last edited by RONNIE77; August 19th, 2008 at 01:25 PM.

Dear men and women of the armed forces:
thank you for giving up some of your immediate freedom to serve our great nation.
Just know that when you step on domestic soil next time, the freedom of the People will be less than even what you gave up to serve.

that article has the soldiers name. The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

I'd rep ya, but I gotta spread the love. Nice picture. I wonder how much it would cost to send a bag of topsoil, some fertalizer and some grass seed to every FOB in Iraq.
