Nice gun... took me a while to figure out how to get the slide off... Kept sliding it back, flipping the lever up, but it wouldn't come off... Directions leave out, that you have to pull the trigger, then it'll come right off.. duh...

Welcome to the XD 40 club (if there is such a thing)

I think its very accurate firearm.
    Certainly more so then M&P.

    I had XD9 service, and I have M&P9.
I shot both side by side, and eventho I traded XD for something else(been carrying M&P for long time now, see no reason to change that), it was more accurate then my M&P is.
Its just as reliable as M&P is
Trigger is better then M&P is
Sights are nightmare to change on XD
mag are cheaper then M&P is
overall fit/finish I think is better then M&P is

But XD just did not fit my hand right. And M&P fits like grove.

So off to trade it went. It was great firearm tho. I like XD much better then gawdy looking XD-M

At 15yds rapid(but controled) fire with XD

I just bought one used from another member here. (andrewjs) I haven't shot it since I purchased it, but trying it out on previous range trips sold me on it. My other .40 (Taurus PT140 Pro) takes considerable effort to be accurate with, while the XD-40 is a pure pleasure to shoot.

Had one. Wasn't very accurate for me. XD's are top-heavy, not balanced enough, and the triggers are terrible IMO. The trigger spring broke on it before it reached 1k rnds. Had it fixed and sold it at a $50 loss, so I guess it wasn't as bad as buying a Taurus then selling it. Some like them, some don't. I am obviously one who doesn't. Good luck with yours.
