Excuse me officer, your pistol is showing...
I went to see Inglourious Basterds tonight, you can read my thoughts on the movie in the Tarantino thread.
While I was there I had a minor encounter with some movie patrons. I got up about 1.5 hours into the movie to use the restroom.(guess that red bull pounder wasn't the best idea) I was OC and I walk into the mens room:
Old guy: Excuse me officer but your pistol is showing.
Me: I am not a cop and I know it is, thank you for your concern.
Old guy: You're not a cop? You have to cover that up, you will get arrested and loose your 2A rights.
Me: What would I be charged with?
Old guy: Brandishing a firearm... please tell me you have a LTConcealF
Me: I do have a LTCarryF, but it is not needed to OC.
Old guy: I have been carrying for years, and you have to conceal it if you are not a cop. In Pa you get a Lic To Conceal Firearms, so you have to... You wouldn't want to loose your rights do you?
Me: Do you have your LTCF on you? I challenge you to show me where it says conceal anywhere on the card.
Old guy: Listen to me, a few years ago there was this woman at a soccer game (insert SFN's story here) she was arrested and lost her rights to own and carry firearms.
Me: You mean SFN? (I used her name)
Old guy: Yes, she didn't know the laws as well as she thought and she is lucky she didn't go to prison.
Me: Actually, she got her LTCF back and is still OCing everyday.
Old guy: You know her?
Me: Yes, I have been to the range with her many times and had a few beers as well. BTW there is no Brandishing law in Pa and OC is completely legal. I gave him a flier and told him about this forum.
Old guy: I can't believe this, the sheriff told me when I got my LTCF that if anyone saw my pistol I could go to prison.
Me: Wouldn't be the first time a LEO gave bum info... More than likely they just don't "want you to OC". I don't mean to be rude, I gotta get back to the movie, check out the websites on the back of the flier they are a wealth of information.
We shook hands and he said he would check this forum and verify the law before he attempted OC. Not a bad encounter, just a little long considering I was trying to get back to the movie. When you are called a racist, it just means you won an argument with an Obama supporter.

I hope you washed your hands and there was no dribble on the flyer
Recon, great work. You seem to get a lot of attention but it does an ungawa good since I haunt your footsteps and never have an issue.

Re: Excuse me officer, your pistol is showing...
I have had similar encounters with license holders that don't know the laws or have been misinformed by LE as to what is legal and what isn't.
Good job being prepared with a flier and taking the time to explain the finer points of the law.
I have also found, that when people see me with a firearm, they just assume I'm a cop. When I tell them I'm not, that's when I get the , "You should cover that up so you don't get in trouble" It has lead to some good conversations about the law.I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning.[

My response:
"I only carry this damn thing so that men won't try to talk to me in the restroom"
Good job.

It's amazing the amount of people who have guns and don't know shit about gun laws. Wonder how many people drive that don't know shit about driving laws?

Nice job, very well done.
