    Default CCW

I am relatively new to CC. I have my LTCF. Does the gun have to be registered to me, or can I carry one belonging to someone else?

    Thanks

Your LTCF is what it says it is, a license to carry a firearm. There is no registration of weapons in PA. You can carry any legal weapon with your LTCF. Check this out

While there is no mythical gun regsitry for the common wealth. You may want to be careful carrying a weapon belonging to someone else. If for some reason you are stopped, involved in an accident or whatever. The LEO maybe being a little overzealous may wish to run your gun for whatever reason and they can find out who owns the gun. I've seen them do it in york working on the abmulance for the city.

Just saying if it comes back to someone else it may cause you some undue headache. Just my .02.

It was the best of my knowledge that as long as BOTH the LOANER and LOANEE of the gun have LTCFs, that there should be know hassle.

Just my $.02, and I could be way off on this, but I'm just going by knowledge that I have been given.

Please clarify that point for me. Why would the owner of the firearm have to have an LTCF if he has loaned the firearm to someone else? There is no requirement in Pa. to have an LTCF to own a firearm so I would have to question that information.

Only the loanee needs an LTCF.
§ 6115. Loans on, or lending or giving firearms prohibited.
    (a) Offense defined.--No person shall make any loan secured
by mortgage, deposit or pledge of a firearm, nor, except as
provided in subsection (b), shall any person lend or give a
firearm to another or otherwise deliver a firearm contrary to
    the provisions of this subchapter.
    (b) Exception.--
    (1) Subsection (a) shall not apply if any of the
    following apply:
    (i) The person who receives the firearm is licensed
to carry a firearm under section 6109 (relating to
    licenses).

Thanks for the info Pa. Patriot. That clarifies the information I had prior as well.

This poses a question for me though: There are times where I'm not home and the wife is by herself. Both guns are owned by me. Since she has not yet acquired her LTCF, would she (or both of us) face legal issues if she would ever have to shoot in a home-defense scenario?

No. Since spouses are exempt from sale/transfer requirements, SS6111, then "loans" would not apply
