PA Residency question
If I own a home in PA but am a NY resident, am I able to buy a handgun in PA and just keep it in my PA home?? I enjoy going to ranges and working on my accuracy when I am in PA, however I'm tired of paying insane amounts just to fire a couple of rounds and I'd rather just have my own. Not sure how it works because I am a resident of NY and do not have a gun license here. Even if I got one, it would only be a residence license for NYC. Id rather avoid that, since the application fee alone is almost $500 in NYC and I'd never use the gun here.

Re: PA Residency question
Not unless you qualify as a resident.. ..Which you would not given the conditions you explained.
Now, you can buy a gun in NY if you're licensed - then leave it at your "vacation home" in PA.

Re: PA Residency question
I asked this question a while back and plan on moving towards PA residency with a house in NJ.

There may be something helpful in that link. Good luck.

Re: PA Residency question
Yeah really... Move legally to PA and keep a NY house. PA taxes are cheaper, same with our auto insurance.

Re: PA Residency question
How difficult is it to become a PA resident? Are we talking just getting a PA drivers license?? I'm in PA usually weekly during the warmer months, but only once or twice over the entire winter.

Re: PA Residency question
Driver's license works.. You should then change your insurance policy and vehicle registration to match.
If you vote, that would have to change to your PA location too.

Re: PA Residency question
Hell thats no problem, New York is filled with too many democrats anyway. Theres nothing more frustrating then voting in every single election knowing your vote is useless and you'll never be in your states majority.

Re: PA Residency question
To be considered a resident of PA you must:
reside in PA a majority of the time during the year
pay taxes in PA
be registered to vote only in PA
have your fed and state and local taxes reflect your PA residency
have utilites in PA in your name and show that they are being used on an ongoing basis
have your drivers license in PA only, since you have to have the NY voided when you apply for a PA license not a problem
change your vehicle registration to PA, but be prepared to pay additonal PA sales taxes if the paid taxabe amount is lower in NY than PA AND the car has been in your name in NY for less than 6 months
change your insurance to your new PA address
just changing a drivers license and vehicle registration and insurance to PA without doing all of the above will open you up to insurance fraud charges in PA.
Im a notary and and insurance agent so go with me on thisgotta love her ;)
