Default carry in a car question

I just recently started carrying my XD and when I sit in the car, the handle on the pistol pushes against the seat causing irritation on the side of my stomach....am I able to 'legally' take it out of the holster once I get inside the car and put just the pistol in the glove compartment until I get out of the car then holster it back up?

    any help is appreciated.

Do you possess a license to carry from any state? If so, the answer is yes.

While Greg is absolutely correct, why not just adjust your holster position to a more comfortable one when driving?

If you have an LTCF, you can duct tape it to the visor if you so desire.

As headcase stated, best to just readjust the holster. From a safety standpoint, the less actual handling of the pistol the better. Don't know your car or physique or carrying preference, so this very well might be one that you'll have to figure out all on your own.

I do have a LTCF. I also need to try to adjust the holster in 1 more position...I had it canted back and straight so far, I'll have to try it forward to see how it feels both standing, sitting and in the car..the problem I have with the different positions of the holster is that some of my belt loops are different so the gun might sit back further than on other shorts I wear.

When I encounter this problem, I loop through one slot on my holster, then through the belt loop, then through the other holster slot.

that's actually not a bad idea...I'll have to try that out tonight...

shame the damn paddle for the serpa is such a bitch to get on/off or I'd just use that over the belt holster.

It will get easier if you continue to use it.<----voice of experience

Try putting your gun in a forward cant, right about 15 degrees see fi that helps. I really would try and refrain form putting your gun in the glovebox. It is just to far way from you if you need it.
