Do I answer or not?
Hello all I am a newbie.
24 years ago I had a few (nickle and dime stuff) charges .
This was in another state, I was 19 and younger. All were conditional discharge or time served ie, waiting 40 hrs for arraignment.
I used to work for the city of NY and went back to the same judge and had them sealed or I got relief from civil disablilties for all of them
I have a friend that ran my name through the system in PA nothing, clean.
I paid Intelius online national and state of NY Criminal Background check, Ie dob and name. Nothing Clean. ok now for the questions.
When I go to purchase a firearm one of the questions is ever been convicted of controlled substance. yes or No
I was told if I answer no and they find it I am now a FELON! Go figure.
I am also coming up on 2 weeks since I applied for my ccw.
any help?? Thank you in Advance.Last edited by Bookers; July 11th, 2008 at 11:08 PM.

Get a lawyer. One who knows gun laws and drug laws. Don't try to buy a gun until you've made absolutely sure you won't get into trouble.

Re: Do I answer or not?
You don't need to have a LTCF in order to purchase a firearm, though the check process for either is similar. The requirements for a LTCF are actually a bit tighter, so it's possible to pass the check for a firearm purchase, and be denied a LTCF.

Re: Do I answer or not?
What you need to understand in relation to answering this question on the PICS form, is do you believe you are able to answer that question no. I know that if I were in a similar situation, I would answer no. If it came back that there was something on my record, that I thought was not there due to being told it was just like it never happened, I would honestly be able to deny wrong doing. Intentionally lying on that form is a crime, answering to the best of your belief is not, IMHO.
