Default OC covered at Act 180

I don't know if anybody else posted this or not, but OC was one of the blocks of instruction during the Act 180,Legal Updates, training. I hope this limits the number of negative encounters.

Excellent, what was the general atmosphere of those in attendence when this specific legal update was taught?

The devil is in the details. I have a desire to know the details.

Well it wasn't long but it did get right to the point. It made it very clear that OC was legal and then touched on where it wasn't legal to carry.
The general reaction, for the most part, was one of "we know that".A small portion did have a "I didn't know that " reaction.
Overall ,I think that it was very productive!

Good to know that it is actually being presented during training.

Well thank Jesus. I would love to know if this is state wide mandatory training, or up to the instructor...

Now they know. One would presume they would also understand that having a firearm is NOT justification for a Terry stop.

One significant aspect to this is, it almost guarantees a violation of Official Oppression if you're harassed, detained, etc for open carrying.

With Official Oppression, the officer can claim he didn't know what he was doing was illegal or was violating your rights. But now that they are trained and officially taught that OC is legal, they cant claim ignorance.

    § 5301. Official oppression

A person acting or purporting to act in an official capacity or taking advantage of such actual or purported capacity commits a misdemeanor of the second degree if, knowing that his conduct is illegal, he:

    (1) subjects another to arrest, detention, search, seizure, mistreatment, dispossession, assessment, lien or other infringement of personal or property rights; or

    (2) denies or impedes another in the exercise or enjoyment of any right, privilege, power or immunity.

Do you have anything written that you could scan and post? Like a handout or study guide that mentions OC?
