Unhappy My cousin was killed in Iraq yesterday.

Here is the message I got from my Aunt this morning.

    To All,

We wish you a very happy thanksgiving and wish that we could be with you. As you all know, we usually got to Parkersburg to spend Thanksgiving with the Franks. This year is especially important for us to be in West Virginia. We just found out a few hours ago that our nephew (and Joes godson), Andrew, was killed in Iraq yesterday. It was his third tour over there. Prior to going over he was able to be home for the birth of his second daughter, Isabelle, in September. Sophia is 2 now. The marine corp will be assisting Ally and the girls with moving back to the states. Andrew had just moved his family to Okinawa in August. He was killed by enemy fire while on a humanitarian mission. He and his men were passing out food. He had all of his protective gear on but a single bullet found its way through. As Captain, he was giving orders, keeping organization and therefore was probably targeted. We are in a state of shock. At age 26, it all seems so senseless. Andrew would say “its what I do”. He truly was committed to his service as a marine and he died doing what he loved. It still doesn’t make sense. Please keep us in your prayers.

Andrew was one of those cousins you rarely see. He was related by marriage, so we hardly ever saw him, save for the occasional holiday that he got leave for. He was a good, kind and gentle soul. Snuffed out at 26.

I am sorry for the loss...
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Truely sorry for the loss. Your family (and especially your cousin's wife and daughters) are in my prayers. I hope they know that his brothers and sisters in the Corp will be there to support them and that they take them up on it. That is one thing (among many) that truely impresses me about the Marines; how they come together in times of need and help and support their own.
