Default Casual OC experience this morning....

So…….I took off from work today (Monday too! Woo Hoo!) and the wife had me swing by the store to pick up some odds and ends.

I was at Bill’s Shoprite in Daleville at about 7:40 this morning. It’s the same local store I go to and OC in all the time.

So, I get to the check-out line….no one is behind me.
The checkout lady, who appears mid 50-ish and wearing a pleasant smile, says to me “Hey…..You’re not wearing your gun today. What’d ya do, forget it?”

She said it as pleasing as if she were talking about birds chirping and pretty sunshine.

I replied “No…..” and gave a brief explanation about how I was off work today and my daughters were excited cuz Daddy was driving them in to school today. I explained that though Pennsylvania is a very gun-friendly state…there are a few places where I am not permitted to carry – and schools are one of them.
She replied, “Oh….I figured that as long as you have the special permit…you are trusted to carry it anywhere.”

I smiled and finished my small talk and was on my way.

I know. I know. I coulda left the firearm in the car when going in to school etc… I chose to go without.

The point is that even though I am in Bill’s Market ALL the time, I didn’t recognize this lady at all (many employees, I do). And she was just so calm about talking about the firearm.

Even though I wasn’t carrying, I think it was a positive OC experience.

Excellent. I especially liked her saying about having a permit and being trusted to carry anywhere. If only it were true.

From how I read the law self defense is legal and "other legal purposes" would include self defense so CC on school property with a LTCF is completely legal. The only thing lacking is case law to solidify that possition and courts seem to be scared to give us the case law that we need.

Now open carry on school grounds could be a gray area since they can always claim that your action was causing a dangerous situation or panic. (BS in my book)

Very positive, IMO. Nice to hear that people see you, and don't think twice about your gun. That is the way it should be. No different than people seeing me with or without my hat.

That is the exact reason it would be nice to see more people OC. The more people get used to seeing it, the more normal it becomes to them. Gotta spread the love or I'd rep ya'

I wonder if she is a registered voter. Maybe if she knew about the inanity of gun-free zones she might vote for people who were out to fix them.
