Protect Yourself While Using the Classifieds
Some users have had some issues crop up in dealing in the classifieds. The staff is doing what they can to track down these issues from a forum standpoint. We cannot be parties to legal/civil matters between members or help out with legal fees, we can only deal with the issues as they evolve here upon the forum and sometimes provide archived posts. We've written some tips to help everyone deal with users that cause problems.
Tips for Protecting yourself:
1. Be wary of new users in both buying and selling, BUT just because someone has a green reputation and an older account doesn't mean they can be trusted.
2. Before the deal is completed, research the person you're dealing with as best as you can. Retain all communication whether they be PM, Email or Texts. Make notes of phone numbers. Plan for what you would do if the other person breaks their part of the deal; could you send the police to their home or work? Or could they just disappear by not answering their phone? Did they have to cash your check in their bank and provide ID, or did you trade something that they can just keep? Did you track whatever you sent so that you can prove it got there and someone signed for it?
3. Be wary of names not matching CallerID and Email accounts.
4. Be wary of odd conditions or changes made to the deal after the deal is agreed upon.
5. If anything is hinky, don't send the money.
6. There is a feedback section here, please use it both before and after the sale.
The staff cannot possibly read every single classified post, if there is something strange please CONTACT US with the details and why you suspect there is a problem so that we can look into it. Providing us with names and phone numbers and addresses will make it harder for scammers to continue to operate here.
Posts in this thread will show users that have shown themselves to be less than trustworthy. Please read the posts and the attached information and judge for yourself.Last edited by streaker69; September 30th, 2017 at 05:22 PM.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.
