Licence, permit, CCW, CDW?
I wanted to see what was so special about Monroe County's application so I went poking around with Google and found this. Really makes me wonder about all the fuss over what our permits are called.

Kind of sad that our own website calls it a concealed carry permit...

I never understood people's conniption with the whole license/permit thing. The fact people are so anal about it bothers me more than someone calling their LTCF a CWP.

Re: Licence, permit, CCW, CDW?
Yes, they are talking about a LTCF incorrectly.
Part of it, to me, is the word concealed. It says to some people incorrectly that you Must conceal.
Another part is the word permit. I don't feel like I need permission to keep and bear. I do follow the laws of the state however even if I think the only licensing requirement that I should have is being an American.
I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).

Re: Licence, permit, CCW, CDW?
The whole license v. permit argument never really went over well with me. The words look eerily similar in definition if you ask me and I don't see how using the word license seems less oppressive than using the term permit.
I don't have a problem with someone nicely correcting somebody that refers to it as a permit, but it imo, it seems like people go out of their way to correct someone for not calling it a LTCF. Agree or disagree, just my opinion.

I think it's a learning/teaching thing. When I was in the saevice, wether I was checking in or a new guy was, I always made sure they knew what the proper nomenclature was. After awhile I would let them slide some. New members or transplants go by what they know. Our job, of which is done very well here, is to teach and educate.

Re: Licence, permit, CCW, CDW?
I believe that danp, forum admin, said he calls it a carry permit in that section for search engine reasons...as that is what most people search for when looking for info about getting a License To Carry Firearms.
That said, I am in the "anal" group I guess. I mean it reads right on the document "License to Carry Firearms". It is also referred to as such in the Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act (PA UFA). Although many sheriffs, who issue them, call them permits (SIGH).
If some don't want to use the full, proper name, call it a LTCF or at the very least a carry license. It is not a permit
Yes, I know the name in the image link calls it a permit
