Do you guys still have a bunch of wild pigs running around down there? Or have they become a "game animal", subject to regulations, seasons, etc?
I'm interested in giving hunting them a try, but haven't kept up with the situation.

PGC still considers feral pigs an invasive creature... no closed season and no bag limit.
Excellent, thanks for the info.
Now to find somewhere to shoot a couple.
It's not quite that simple . . . Here's a link to the PGC's feral pig page: http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal...=621618&mode=2
Seems pretty cut and dried to me.
-Have a license, go by regulations
-Dont hunt where theyre trying to trap them
-Report kills and sightings to the game commission
Unless Im missing something?
What do you guys who hunt them do with them? Are they safe to eat, if cooked through?
What kinds of equipment is recommended? I'd imagine medium-heavy deer rifles would be fine (30-06, 270, 280, etc)?
I hope my previous post didn't come across wrong; I wasn't trying to be a smart-ass.
I'm far from an expert on our hunting regs, but it's my understanding that you can't specifically "hunt" hogs. You can only take them while hunting other game--say, coyotes or groundhogs.
I'm sure there are legitimate reasons for this, but I don't get it. If I'm out for a hike, and I encounter a wild pig, but I only have a semi-auto self-defense piece, under the current regs (as I understand them) I'm forced to let the little destructive pest go on its merry way. (Obviously an attack by a hog would be justifiable.)
I can understand--sort of--not allowing specific targeting of hogs, but it would seem to me that we need to ERADICATE those cocksuckers ASAP! We should be allowed to use whatever appropriate means at our disposal to KILL them on sight.
Just FYI, here are a few threads on this topic :) (the search feature on this site has some quirks):

No problem, I didnt take it that way. Thanks for the info, I'll check the links out when Im on an actual computer.
On that note, anyone know somewhere in bedford county I could go coyote hunting?
Anyone here have a place to hunt hogs? I will gladly help :)
