case for pistol that locks for in the car?
So I was wondering if anyone has one of these.

I need one to put in my car and was wondering if they are good. It locks, and comes with a cable.
Any other ones like these that come with a cable, that might be cheaper?

I use one. The cable is thin and the box isn`t real heavy but it buys time. You can drill and mount it solid to the vehicle which is the best option.
Like all theft deterrent systems a persistent bad guy will figure a way.

Those are both good lockable vehicle cases, and are right in line with the prices I've seen elsewhere. I've never felt comfortable leaving my pistol in the car, so I pretty much don't go places I can't carry in anymore.

Re: case for pistol that locks for in the car?
Some people have to drive to work every day! Since I am not allowed to have a gun with me on company property, I am forced to park in another lot and walk a little further. The lock box gives me additional protection against theft. I have been working in same office since 1996, and I have not had a problem.
I have drop down seats in the rear and the lock box is mounted to the floor under there. Thieves are looking for the quick hit, so IMHO, it is better than a glove box.NRA Training Counselor, Chief Range Safety Officer, NRA Benefactor Member

I picked up one of these from Costco online. With my Costco membership, it was $31.79 shipped. Without a Costco membership, it would be around $34. Like the other model linked previously, it also has a steel security cable.
I keep it in my truck for those times I can't take my pistol into my destination (e.g. a trip to the post office)... I feel like the 2 lugs on the SentrySafe model are more secure than the locking device on the SecureIt boxes.Last edited by kcr121; January 22nd, 2010 at 12:21 PM.

I owned and sold the "Center Of Mass" pistol safe. It fits a niche I guess. I don't like the key lock or the dial lock access (impossible in the dark). I went with the V-line Top Draw. Much heavier construction and unique locking device that you "feel" instead of look at to open. It's not as cheap as the C.O.M., but I felt for the added security and ease of opening, it was worth the price.
