    I think the local gunshop will honer a situation such as this case of a stolen new gun bought in there shop.

    I think the local news and ramafication will cause great disturbance for his business otherwise.

    Based on what? Stolen guns are tracked through FFLs to buyers routinely. Never on the news unless it's a lot of them and the gun shop is not to blame...

    Not all "local gun shops" are reputable. In fact, some are downright sleazy.

    Speaking of Dunkleberger's in particular there, not everyone has what you would call a 'high opinion' of that shop:

    Dunkelberger's Is off Limits to me

    I remember when this story first came out. I hated Bloomberg before this happened and I realize that he's scary and the kind of pressure that dunkleknobs was under - but they could've publicly protested a bit at least before folding like a cheap suit.
