    Talking Some place to shoot

I was just at the range in Pike County last week and it was abysmal. Missing benches missing pistol stand nowhere to hang targets on the 25 and 50 yard side and half the stands on the 100 yard were...

This seems to be a common trend amongst the PA SGL ranges. Boo

dont know about some others, but it seems the distruction of the range here on rt 6 is directly proportional to the increaced numbers of front platers I note at the range on weekends.

Please tell, what are front platers and why do you attribute range conditions to their presence?

Front platers would be those happy go lucky people from out of state who come up on the weekends and shoot the heck out of the range and go home and leave us with the clean up. Hoping that by time they come back we have repaired them.

    Rich
thats the X-ring for you ,

i shoot often I can all winter and spring , the range is in the excellent shape.
As soon as summer comes the front platers start showing up and thing go down hill from there. Often it is a group of three to five people , 1 pistol or semi-auto carbine that they cant use at the range in thier home state ( NY, NJ, MD all require lic. plates on both front an rear bumpers) because of the high cap laws. they take turns missing the target as fast as the can w/ as many bullets as the mag will hold, often the ones that do understand sight alignment will not be happy till they can destroy somthing , pop bottles, trash cans, target cross posts and such.

now one may say how can you be sure its not locals doing this, to that I say I have seen some local do stupid things but word gets around about who and it doesnt happen as much , because as rich said we foot the bill and have to clean up the mess,

the only up side is all that new , once fired reloadable brass they leave but I would be glad to for go the avalible bass so that I didn't have to walk over the berm and find all of the 25yrd and most of the 50 yrd cross bars down or pick up the pop bottles and ammo boxes off the bench.

Sorry about the long rant, this is one of those this that gets my blood up.

    Regards, Jgr
