To your knowledge, what pistols are police Depts in PA issueing? Make a list! You would be surprised of what the top mfgr is.

Last year one of the retired SP guys contacted all 49 state police/highway patrol agencies and compiled a list.
He reported the PA SP were carrying Beretta 96D Brigider in DAO.

21 state agencies carried Glocks.
18 carried SIG.
4 carried S&W
4 carried Beretta
2 carried H&K

Calibers issued (2 agencies issued more than 1 caliber):
9mm = 4
357 = 10
40 = 29
45 = 8


just found that on google, my question is what about the 50th state? who doesnt have state police?

Hawaii does not have a state police department. The Sheriff Division carries out law enforcement services statewide. Hawaii Five-O (the TV show) as a state police department, was entirely fictional.

Hopewell Police Dept. (Beaver County) issues Glock .40. I know this because I ran into an LEO at the firing range.

Williamsport PD..Glock 21 .45 ACP, Wilkes-Barre PD Beretta 96D.40 S&W. Most other local Twps carry what ever caliber and Mmodel they qualify with.

Hazleton, PD ..Glock 22
Exter, PD ..Glock 22

State College PD Just switched to the Glock 23, everyone else in the county (Bellefonte PD, Spring Twp PD, Patton Twp PD and Ferguson Twp) carry the Glock 22. Don't know what the sheriff's office carries, I'll look though.

Springfield XD is starting to creep it's way in. If you don't particularly like the grip angle of the Glocks, or the plastic triggers, I'd highly recommend them.

I'm not knocking Glocks at all, I just happened to stumble across the XD by accident and I love it. My wife liked the Glock 17 we rented for her to shoot, so who knows what she'll end up getting.
