Default Is that a gun? another non-event

Was at mao-mart in Lebanon today, cause the B&C needed some mayonaise for something or another, and I needed some cookies to eat while waiting for her to finish at the doctors

    cashier: Is that a gun?
    me: yep
    casher: is it loaded?
    me: yep
cashier: Are you a cop or something?
    me: nope
    cashier: is that legal?
me: yep, Open carry is perfectly legal in PA
    cashier: really
me: yep *hands her a PA flyer"
cashier: is it hard to get a permit?
me: PA calls them a license, you don't need one to Open Carry in PA, the flyer explains all that, only if your gonna concealed carry. You can fill out a application at the sheriff's office and they'll give it to as long as you pass the PICS check and your references if they choose to check them.
cashier: wow, I didn't know that
me: you do now, have a nice day

    guess it coulda been worse

Curious as to why you use a derogatory term to describe a store you apparently are willing to use? They are no different then any other retail store except they pass more savings on to their customers. I`m sure there were other stores close by where you could have willingly paid 10 to 40% more for the exact same products.

The Chinese leader. It is a reference to Wal-Mart's products being made in China.... He just spelled it wrong..

    To the OP:

The encounter seems like it was a classic Q&A with a curious person. I thought it was well done. Why would you guess it could have gone better?

It's simply a reference to where a lot of Walmart's goods are manufactured.

Oops, guess I shouldn't have walked away for a while before posting the reply.

That actually looks near word-for-word my first encounter with someone else OC'ing. I had no clue about the law, but am a curious person, so I asked if they were a cop. Then I asked if a special license was needed. Then I said, 'That's pretty cool.' After the gentleman (a PAFOA'er) explained the laws to me, I started thinking how uncomfortable my IWB holster is, hehe.

The only thing I didn't ask was if it was loaded...figured that was sort of self-explanitory and not really my business. And I was buying a gun off the gentleman, not working in a store or passing him randomly. Although, I'd like to think he'd be just as polite and insightful to a stranger not buying one of his guns.

I think we all knew what it meant. Walmart buys their products domestically if they are available and at a price that makes them marketable in a discount store.
My point is why make the derogatory remark when they are a great American success story doing nothing different then any retailer only doing it better. Then admit to doing business with them.
