McDonald Police...DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE LAW
So tonight I was carrying my glock 27 to the McSummerfest Fair in McDonald, PA. It is held at the town park. I was actually carry concealed most of the night but when I sat down to eat, my gun was exposed.
About 3 washington county constables who were working the event with the McDonald Police come up to me and say:
Constable: Sir how are you doing?
Me: Im doing good thank you.
Constable: Are you a police officer?
Me: No I am not. I have a license to carry in PA and PA is an open carry state.
Constable: No its a concealed state.
Me: Trust me I know the laws and its an open carry state.
Constable: Wait here while I go talk to the McDonald Chief of Police.
During this time, 3 consables are just standing by me while me and my friend continue to eat our food. Couple minutes later, he comes back and says:
Contestable: I just talked to the police sergeant and the chief of police and they said you have to lock your gun in your vehicle and your welcome to come back. If not, I have to escort you off the premieses. But firearms concealed or open carried are prohibited and you are not allowed to carry.
Since we were at a fair with about 100 little kids around me, I just complied and said I would lock my gun in my vehicle and I would like to talk to the cheif of police when i get back. He said that was fine. I come back and I can not find the cheif of police so I didnt get to talk to him.
I plan on writing a letter or going right down to the department tommorow to discuss this further. The park is a regular public park and I didnt see any posted signs.
I would also like to know if anyone in the McDonald area would be up for open carrying down at the fair with me either Tomm night (thursday) or Friday night?? Its much easier to fight this cause if I had a group of fellow open carriers. Hell they even said concealed carry was not allowed!

Re: McDonald Police...DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE LAW
If the park is owned by the borough, they cannot make their own firearms rules: the preemption thing. Carry on...legally

Re: McDonald Police...DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE LAW
Is this the next park we have to have a picnic at? It just amazes me the fucking stupidity of some of these towns when it comes to OUR rights.
So where the hell is this place? Sounds to me we need a group effort to show up and tell them our rights are NOT at their 'whim'.

LOL, I thought it was at a McDonalds... Sounds like the local Sherif needs a refresher course in the LAW.

Re: McDonald Police...DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE LAW
Yea they definitely dont understand the law. The event has both McDonald Police and Washington County Constables patroling the area.
I need a link to the Municipal police training Manuel. I plan to show them it but I cant find the link. Any one have it? Also the link the PA Gun Rights Flyer?

Re: McDonald Police...DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE LAW
Oh, brother...
It's amazing that three constables and a chief of police cannot come up with the law. There is some serious need for letter writing to the chief, the mayor (his boss), and the borough council (funds the police).
At least these clowns didn't try to disarm you like the other incidents we've been reading...
